The International Cooperation Platform (ICP) is an independent institution founded with the principle of enhancing proactive multilateral and inter-disciplinary cooperation for sustainable development. Created as a platform without borders, ICP takes a productive approach in tackling pressing issues and opportunities alike and is dedicated to reaching a shared understanding of vital interests that will lay the common grounds for stimulating a new level of global cooperation. H.E. Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Chairman of The Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development & Former Deputy Prime Minister of state of Qatar and Minister for Energy and Industry, participated in a session on “Energy Diversification in Middle Eastern Economies Beyond Oil Exports” at the 7th Bosphorus Summit.
The Oil-exporting countries in the Middle East have recently witnessed increasing budgetary pressures caused by sustained lower oil prices. Much of their economies remains based on the energy sector – led by hydrocarbon resources that are exhaustible – hence economic diversification will be crucial to create jobs and foster inclusive growth.
