2017 Book Sustainable Development Goals & Energy Nexus Launch

Sustainable development is undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges the world continues to face today. We live in a world where more than 800 million people still live in extreme poverty; one out of nine people are starving; 2.5 billion without access to clean water; and 1.3 billion people have no access to modern electricity.

As the world continues to grapple with ways to provide enough dependable, affordable and sustainable energy to meet rising global demand the ongoing environmental challenges facing the oil and gas sector are expected to continue.

This publication, entitled Sustainable Development Goals and Energy Nexus, is expected to be a valuable and timely contribution by the Al-Attiyah Foundation to the efforts of the energy sector to meet its environmental and sustainability challenges. While only a few of the SDGs are often seen as directly linked to energy, this publication examines the connectivity between energy and each of the 17 SDGs.
