The Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development and Qatar University (QU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing education, awareness, and research of climate change in Qatar.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Al-Attiyah Foundation, expressed his pride at the relationship between both institutions: “Since its inception, the Al-Attiyah Foundation has sought to create and strengthen bonds with prestigious universities in the State of Qatar. The Memorandum of Understanding with Qatar University transforms our similar goals into joint programs and activities that contribute to advancing aspects of social development in the country.”
“Qatar University is the country’s foremost academic institution, a beacon and pioneer of science in the region. The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a strategic partnership between the two parties and seeks to enhance means of cooperation in a number of areas, the most prominent of which is the exchange of experiences in the academic and research fields, cooperation in the field of training and qualifying university students, and the use of experts in various aspects of common interest.”
“I am certain this cooperation can only enhance how we serve our country, supporting sustainable human development projects that form part of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy.”
Eng. Fahad Bin Hamad Al-Mohannadi, a Member of the Board of Trustees at the Al-Attiyah Foundation, and Dr. Mariam Al-Maaded, Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies at Qatar University, signed the document on behalf of their respective organisations at a ceremony held on university grounds and attended by distinguished guests from both parties.
The Memorandum of Understanding provides a framework for the exchange of educational, academic, and scientific experiences and information through journals, studies, newsletters, and statistics. It also enables joint research initiatives, conferences, meetings, and training.
The Al-Attiyah Foundation and Qatar University have already collaborated on numerous high-level projects. At the 2022 National CSR Program, held under the patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and hosted by Qatar University, the Al-Attiyah Foundation was a strategic partner, with Mubadara, in the preparation and launch of the 2022 Qatar National CSR Report.
